Loob Holding opens 50th Petronas Tealive outlet

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

LOOB Holding Sdn Bhd, which embarked on its collaboration with Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) in March, has already opened its 50th store within PetDag’s Kedai Mesra network and is well on its way to achieve its targeted 100 Tealive stores within the network by year-end.

“When we kicked off this partnership, we were very focused on bringing a new frontier in convenience. We both wanted to transform convenience in Malaysia and envisioned having 300 Tealive outlets in Petronas stations within three years,” Loob Holding founder and CEO Bryan Loo said in a statement.

“Our teams also set a target of 100 stores by year-end and I’m extremely happy and humbled that we have opened 50 stores in less than six months.

“Moving forward, I am confident we can open another 50 by year-end. I must commend the Petronas team for their strong can-do attitude in facilitating this collaboration.”

Loo added that these 50 stores have helped Loob Holding to race ahead and chalk up 322 Malaysian outlets (as at Aug 26) with more stores being opened every week, thus strengthening Tealive’s leadership position in handcrafted tea in Malaysia.

He expressed confidence that the 300-store mark within Kedai Mesra can be achieved well within the timeline of three years set in March.

The collaboration between Tealive and Petronas, witnessed by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, took off in March with the first four stores opening that month alone.

On the successful expansion, PetDag MD and DEO Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir said: “Through this partnership, we are excited to be able to offer a popular and refreshing option for motorists as part of our commitment to deliver a seamless and frictionless customer experience.

“Ultimately, our aim is to improve the overall retail experience at our stations and with this new addition, our customers can now easily fuel up and grab their favourite drink, all under one roof.”

Loo added that Tealive is now able to reach out to the suburban community as well as other states beyond the Klang Valley, to serve more consumers and provide employment to fresh graduates and unemployed youths.

“This is also in line with our mission to bring joy to people’s lives through tea and how we wish to modernise tea culture, one neighbourhood, one community and one country at a time,” he said.

The Tealive stores in Petronas stations come in various formats, ranging from kiosks within the Kedai Mesra shops to drive-through stores at selected stations.

In conjunction with this significant milestone and the upcoming Malaysia Day celebrations, Loo announced that the company would be rewarding the first 200 patrons with Tealive X Petronas exclusive metal straw gift set at RM1 with any purchase of its beverages and RM50 minimum spent on Petronas Primax or Kedai Mesra items from Sept 16, while stocks last.
